Digital forensics is a branch of forensic science that involves collecting and investigating data found on devices and accounts that store electronic data, typically performed in a verifiable manner using specialized software tools. Common devices that are the subject of digital forensic analysis include laptops, PCs, tablets, smartphones, servers, external storage devices, email accounts, social media accounts, and web-based storage accounts.
